Vincent L. Riso
Vincent L. Riso is a Briarwood principal. Mr. Riso's chief responsibility is spearheading new residential and commercial development. In this capacity, he evaluates prospective opportunities and identifies ventures with the maximum potential. During pre-development, Mr. Riso surveys submarket performance and forecasts demand. He designs the financial framework for each project - aligning private, governmental and non-profit funding. Beyond that, Mr. Riso monitors the health of all active projects and ensures targeted margins of return are consistently met. In addition, Mr. Riso is a licensed real estate broker and supervises Briarwood Properties, Inc., a full service property management corporation. With a Briarwood career spanning more than 50 years, Mr. Riso is instrumental in maintaining the company's stellar track record of successful developments that are both financially sound and embraced by their respective communities.
During his career, Mr. Riso has been involved in numerous civic, charitable and professional causes. At the Queens Chamber of Commerce’s 2008 Building Awards, Mr. Riso received a Lifetime Achievement Award. Through his long-standing involvement with St. Mary’s, he was the honored at the Bayside children’s hospital’s Tribute Dinner in 2007. In 2006, he received an East Harlem Community Service Award from Hope Community for making East Harlem a better place to live and work. He was appointed in 1995 to be the Diocesan trustee on the Members Board of the Nehemiah II Project for the Diocese of Brooklyn by the Most Reverend Thomas C. Daily. Mr. Riso was appointed to housing and construction committees during the administrations of Mayors Koch and Bloomberg. In addition, he is a board member of the New York State Association for Affordable Housing; a current board member, past president and founding member of the Queens and Bronx Building Association; and a vice president and board member of the Citizens Housing and Planning Council.
Raymond Riso
Raymond Riso is a Briarwood principal. Mr. Riso manages the company's construction activities, and is responsible for the construction of all general contracted and Briarwood-developed projects. Mr. Riso's oversight ensures that all construction remains within budget, on schedule and conforms to the highest quality standards. Additionally, Mr. Riso facilitates permits, coordinates equipment/material procurement and directly supervises Briarwood's construction managers. During his 50-year tenure at Briarwood, Mr. Riso has played a central role in the pre-construction phases of development. He continues to serve as both a structural and construction feasibility consultant. Mr. Riso is an original founder, past president, and current board member of the Queens and Bronx Building Association. He is also a past board member of Community Board 11 in Queens.
Howard Goodman
Howard Goodman is a principal and director of project planning for Briarwood. Mr. Goodman is solely responsible for managing the pre-planning stages of all developed projects. In this role, Mr. Goodman works in concert with a support staff to conduct site evaluation, zoning analysis, and feasibility determination for each potential new venture. He is also charged with leading the design team for all construction, articulating project scope and requirements to structural engineers and architects. Mr. Goodman revises plans until design is visually distinguished, financially viable and in line with end-use objectives. Throughout his 35-year tenure at Briarwood, many of Mr. Goodman's projects have received praise and design awards from community leaders as well as peers in the building industry. Mr. Goodman has held the positions of senior project manager, architectural designer, development planner, and estimator.
James Riso
James Riso is a principal and serves as director of project management for Briarwood and the director of operations for Briarwood Properties, Inc. Mr. Riso is mainly responsible for daily operations for all general contracted, construction managed, and Briarwood-developed projects. In this capacity, he generates estimates for building costs, develops timetables, and monitors expenditures and progress throughout construction. He also handles all procurement and subcontracting. Beyond this, Mr. Riso acts as the liaison between Briarwood's various other divisions, managing the transitions from planning to construction and into sales. With Briarwood Properties, he oversees the daily sales, rentals and management activities of the company. In addition, Mr. Riso blends his expertise in construction and sales to assume a leading role identifying and pursuing new ventures. Mr. Riso has been with Briarwood for 25 years.
Mr. Riso is a past-President and current board member of the Queens and Bronx Building Association as well as a member of the New York State Association for Affordable Housing. He is also a member of the Workplace Development Advisory Board. Recently, Mr. Riso became the sitting president of the Bayside Village Business Improvement District. He is a Certified Green Professional through the National Association of Home Builders. Mr. Riso holds a bachelors degree in Architecture from the New York Institute of Technology as well as an MA from The Schack Institute of Real Estate at New York University. He is also a licensed Real Estate Broker.
