Ira L. Brown General Counsel
Mr. Brown heads Briarwood's legal department and is a senior member of the development team. Mr. Brown is responsible for managing all real estate and financial transactions, including commercial and residential acquisitions, sales and leases. Mr. Brown is also the primary liaison with special counsel retained for specific projects. Mr. Brown coordinates and monitors each sales and marketing campaign to ensure general program compliance. For Briarwood's affordable housing ventures, he oversees implementation of marketing requirements required by governmental agencies, including housing lotteries and purchaser/tenant qualification. Mr. Brown has represented Briarwood for over 20 years and consistently contributes to the project development process, including identifying new ventures and analyzing feasibility.
Mr. Brown is admitted to practice as an Attorney and Counselor at Law in the Courts of the State of New York and the Federal Courts in the Eastern and Southern Districts of New York. Mr. Brown holds a Bachelors Degree from the City University of New York Brooklyn College and a Juris Doctor Degree from Brooklyn Law School. Prior to joining the organization, Mr. Brown gained over 20 years of experience as an attorney specializing in transactional real estate, real estate development, and real estate finance. Mr. Brown is a member of the New York State Bar Association as well as first vice president and a director on the board of the Queens & Bronx Building Association. Mr. Brown is a member and immediate past co-chair of the Associate Board of Parker Jewish Institute, a member of New York State Association for Affordable Housing and a member of the Workforce Development Advisory Board.
